Blue Umbrella Website Photographs

At an Athena networking lunch recently I met a lovely lady called Jill Thorn. Jill runs a Virtual PA company called Blue Umbrella, operating nationally. She is in the process of having her website updated, so wanted her profile pictures updating too. I visited her at her home and we decided to utilise a range of backgrounds to create a small portfolio of images that could be used in different situations, from very plain backgrounds, to more environmental styles.

Property Photography in North London for Bibliotheque

I recently met a very nice lady who is part of the team that runs Bibliotheque in Muswell hill & Potters bar – a company that specialises in contemporary Porcelain and Mosaic Tiles. I visited the showroom and was stunned by both the range and quality of the materials so was very happy when I  received an email asking if I could go and photograph some of the porcelain tiles and mosaic tiles installed in a clients apartment here in North London.

The aim was to show how the tiles blend in with other decoration and enhance the environment into which they are fitted. In this instance, the porcelain & mosaic tiles were used in the bathroom, as well as throughout the apartment on the floor. When you scroll down the photographs you may think the floor is wooden and indeed, it is a very good impersonator, but is actually gorgeous tiles created to replicate the joys of wood without many of the associated issues and maintenance.

If you would like more information about the range Bibliotheque can supply for you, then please visit their website at www.bibliotheque.co.uk Alternatively you can call or pop into their showrooms.

Cherry Lodge Cancer Care Gala Dinner

On Monday I was at The Haven Bistro in Whetstone, London, photographing a Gala Dinner in aid of local charity Cherry Lodge Cancer Care of Barnet. It was an amazing night with a lot of money raised through tickets, sponsorship, a raffle and an auction. Huge thanks and congratulations to everyone that came along, including Zap the Magician and Singer/DJ Daniel Rossen, all the sponsors of the evening and of course the staff & volunteers of Cherry Lodge that helped with the organisation.

Some pictures….if you would like to see the entire gallery and raise even more money for Cherry Lodge by purchasing downloads of them, please do click HERE - thankyou.

Business Profile Portraits

As a photographer, my chosen charity is the Mayhew Animal Home here in London and working for them has brought me into contact with a wide range of people I would never otherwise have met.

This week it was Peter, one of the brains behind Grade Design Consultants Ltd, a graphic design company based in Central London. Grade are working with the Mayhew on a new campaign to promote spaying/neutering to prevent unwanted pregnancies and more animals ending up in animal homes like the Mayhew. I was asked if I could do the photographs that would be used in the campaign and there will be more about that when the campaign goes live – suffice to say, the guys at Grade came up with a genius of an idea that had my full admiration.

Whilst discussing this project, Peter asked me if I could do some portrait pictures of him, for use in company marketing, etc, but he wanted to get away from the usual ‘plain white backdrop’ headshots and do something a bit more contemporary and artistic. This was actually quite an easy request, Grade are based in the old Sarsons Vinegar factory near Tower Bridge, a redeveloped complex that boasts plenty of original Victorian architecture, combined with a completely modern glass/steel refurbishment. The perfect backdrop for some great portraits and something I think more people should consider.

An Artist at Work

A few weeks ago I was really pleased to be part of a make-up masterclass run by Joyce Connor of Brides and Beauty The class was in the hostesses home and several ladies attended, all keen to learn a bit more about make up application and having their current make up bags looked at.

Joyce needed some photographs, which of course is where I came in, so I thought I would share a few.

Joyce can run these masterclasses for you and your friends, at your home, so if you want more information, do contact her at Brides and Beauty and get your girly night in booked.

Beauty Salon Photography

It was a cold but bright morning a few weeks ago when I arrived to photograph the salon at Skindeep in Elstree.  Salon owner Laurie has worked hard, together with her team of professional therapists, to offer a comprehensive range of treatments in a calm and knowledgable environment. The salon has beautiful rural views, yet is easy to find on the outskirts of Elstree.

I have done some product for shots for Laurie in the past and was very happy to oblige when she asked me to come and take some photographs of the salon and its reception & retail area.

The Ace Cafe Paws & Claws Mayhew Animal Home Run

Sunday 18th December was the date set by the Ace Cafe on the North Circular in London to do their bikers run to the Mayhew Animal Home with donated Christmas gifts for the home’s animal residents.

The day dawned clear and frostily cold but the Ace do a lovely breakfast to warm up on and several brave souls arrived on their beautiful machines, ready to head off to see the animals.

One of the Mayhew vans awaits outside the Ace Cafe to load the gifts into.
